The National Solution and Research Centre (NSRC) successfully concluded a 10-day
Psychosocial Counseling Training Program on 25th chaitra 2082, designed to bridge theoretical
learning with practical application in the field of mental health and psychosocial support. The
training aimed to equip participants with professional counseling skills, strengthen their
understanding of mental health interventions, and prepare them to respond effectively to
emotional, social, and psychological challenges within communities.
The comprehensive training covered a wide range of topics including initial intake and
assessment, ethical considerations in counseling, communication and observation skills,
gatekeeper training, stress management, documentation practices, psychological testing tools,
social case assessment, and crisis response. Through interactive sessions, practical exercises, and
case-based learning, participants gained hands-on experience and developed confidence in
applying psychosocial counseling techniques in real-life settings.
The program was facilitated by a distinguished team of biopsychosocial experts including
Clinical Psychologist Anjan Kumar Dhakal, Social Case Worker Saroj Giri, Dr. Ruja Shrestha,
Psychiatric Nurse and Psychologist Sujata Sitoula, and Psychologists Alisha Adhikari, Salomi
Chettri, Neha Karn, and Nisha Karki. Their expertise and facilitation played a vital role in
creating an engaging, practice-oriented, and impactful learning environment.
The training resulted in enhanced professional competencies, improved counseling and crisis-
response skills, and greater confidence among participants in supporting individuals facing
psychosocial and mental health challenges. Participants completed the program with
strengthened practical knowledge, ethical understanding, and community-centered approaches to
mental health care. The program also reinforced NSRC’s commitment to “learning by doing”
through experiential learning, professional development, and meaningful social impact.
