2nd Visit: Koteshwor Swarswati Secondary School

May 25, 2026

National Solution and Research Centre had previously conducted a two-hour interactive program
with Grade 9 students of Koteshwor Secondary School on 2083 Baisakh 14, Monday. Building
on that engagement, our team revisited the school during a staff meeting, where Ward No. 32
Chairperson invited us to share the findings gathered from the students. We were given
approximately 15-20 minutes as invited guests. Ms. Binita Niraula presented an introduction to
the National Solution and Research Centre, followed by Ms. Sujata Sitoula, who presented the
compiled student problems and issues. A formal written report was prepared and handed over to
the school principal at the end of the session.

As the student problems were being shared, the teachers listened with visible empathy and
emotional engagement. Teacher Manju stood up and said that the presentation had
motivated her, acknowledging that teachers sometimes unknowingly make mistakes and that
educators themselves need to reflect and improve. She shared that the slides had prompted her to
look inward. She also has mentioned that they have taken training from Kathmandu Metropolitan
City but realizes they require further sessions. The school counselor also responded with
curiosity, noting that students had not mentioned the availability of school counseling when
raising their concerns, which prompted reflection on how approachable those services are to the
students.

The school principal thanked the organization for the initiative and expressed commitment to
working on the recommendations provided. In particular, our recommendation to organize
sessions for parents and guardians, though acknowledged as a challenging task, was well
received. He pledged to include it as a formal agenda in that very staff meeting to discuss how
the school can move forward with parent engagement. Ward Member Hira Mam in the end
further noted that there is another community school in Ward No. 32 that needs similar attention
and also encouraged planning to extend the program to other grade levels such as Grades 8, 9,
and 10 within the same school. The session concluded on a warm and encouraging note, with
staff motivated and the administration committed to acting.
